happy new year

happy new year,
originally uploaded by spinneyhead.
I could try to be clever and send a message at midnight, but you know the networks will be clogged up. So, happy new year, and i hope you have as much fun as we plan to.

A call for readers
One of the things I plan to do in the New Year is start writing again. I have a couple of ideas but one in particular- a teen's sci-fi allegory about a ghost Earth- is foremost in my mind at the moment. I want to write the first three chapters then start touting them around publishers and agents whilst working on the rest. To get to that stage I'd like to pass the first drafts out to a few readers for comment. If you'd like to be one of those readers then drop me a line to Ian[at]spinneyhead[dot]co[dot]uk.Technorati tag: Writing, Fiction

Pulse Jet dragster
This looks scary. A pulse jet powered dragster, built by a guy from New Zealand. I think he's the same one who tried to build a budget cruise missile.via Jalopnik

Ten of the Worst
Historians have been asked to name the ten worst Britons of the last millennium, though they were limited to only one per century. Annoyingly, the article doesn't name the final ten.Technorati tag: Britain,History

We're back in casa Spinneyhead and wrapped up against the cold because the boiler's not working. The landlord gets a call tomorrow.Technorati tag: Gas boiler

stones in yer head

stones in yer head,
originally uploaded by spinneyhead.
I'm sure we've all had mornings with that feeling.
The phone line out to this house are screwed up, leading to crossed/non-existent phone connections and spotty broadband. This is particularly annoying as i'm trying to download firefox for my parents.
